She was utterly determined to have a son. The fact that to do so would make 70-year-old Omkari Panwar the world’s oldest mother didn’t even cross her mind.

I don’t understand, whether to laugh or cry. A very very happy moment for the old couple. 70-year-old Omkari Panwar is indeed admirable for her strength, both physical and mental. Her husband is also so strong to support her in such a way. Is’a great joy, but what for? Just for the birth of a male child. At last all their pain have been paid.

But I am worried for the little kids. What will happen to them, how will they grow, I mean what about the future ? The parents have spend eveything just in giving birth to them. What will happen to the kids when they’ll die?

I wish this sort of things should not be repeatet.

Even Pandit KOK and Vatasyana would have felt surprised by this miracle. I would love to ask her husband what he takes to remain as powerful as a bullock !

“Never tell anyone that anything cannot be done. God may have been waiting centuries for someone ignorant enough of the impossible to do that very thing.”
I think this quote goes well with the article, however, I can’t remember who framed it. Its a welcome news anyways; wish fulfilled though in a very old age.

I would like to add that there are no people so pitiable and dejected as those who are forced to eat the bitter bread of dependence. Don’t have any fair idea about their financial condition; its for sure the twins may have to face a very harsh world waiting for them in case any of the parents bid adieu to his/her physical existence.

Wondering why we don’t like the ’adoption’ way in India. I see many couples go through much pain and lose time, health and wealth just because they want a child of their own. What is it in us that does not want to adopt a child, if we long for it so much?

I understand that there is a joy in experiencing motherhood/fatherhood by having a biological child. But what if that does not work? Many couples would rather live childless than adopt.

This couple already had grown up daughters. So if they so much longed for a son, they could have adopted and by now the child would have grown up and they wouldn’t have had to sell their bullocks and take credit to have a son.

I don’t like the ”son longing” too. But in some tribal societies in India (and legally too) the local laws apply. If you don’t have a male heir in such societies, after the last male dies the entire property is taken away and distributed among the nearest male kins. I don’t know if this couple belongs to such a community, but if they do the longing for a male heir is understandable.

This is sick... the couple are already nearing the fag end of their lives...

how are they going to support that kid??? what would happen to the kid if the parents pass on before he is an adult...

both his sisters are married and they may not be allowed to take him in... unless the in-laws decided to keep him on as a servant!!!

Those tiny bodies are so cute, I am happy for the family since they have been waiting so long for this to happen.

And to think I thought it was hard for me to have twins at 38, these people are twice my age.

I would not be so quick to say that the parents will die soon they may live to be over a hundred. Who knows what God has planned for them. He blessed them with what they wanted and he may bless them further to see them grow up and have their own children.

Childbirth is always a time to rejoice not to be negative. I should know I have four children and am short by 2 since my original plan was to have 6. But, I am most satisfied anyway with having 4.
